Website Sales Terms
Renewal - a person who has a full subscription in the current (2009/10) season and is purchasing a full subscription for the upcoming (2010/11) season.
New - a person who is purchasing a full subscription for the 2010/11 season, but in the previous season had a different type of subscription, was a single ticket buyer or a lapsed subscriber.
Full - a subscription that includes most or all performances in the package. The best seats and privileges are given to full subscribers.
Select Five - a subscription that allowed the subscriber to choose 5 of the 6 operas that are presented in the 2010/11 Season by series.
Select Four - a subscription that allowed the subscriber to choose 4 of the 6 operas that were presented in the 2010/11 Season by series.
Design-Your-Own (DYO) - a subscription that allows you to choose three or more operas from any date in the entire 2010/11 season. DYO subscribers do not keep their same seat from opera to opera, and no seats are renewable for the next season.
Subscriber (or Subscription) - a person that commits to purchasing a predetermined number of operas for an entire season.
Series - a variety of predetermined dates and times that a subscriber must choose when becoming a Full or Select subscriber.
Seat Selection - a subscriber's choice of the section in which they would like to have their seats assigned.
Seating Chart - a map of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion that shows each section and the seats within it. This map is provided as a guide and specific seats cannot be chosen.
Current Subscriber - a person who has a Full, Select, Mini or DYO Subscription during the 2009/10 Season.
Priority Ticketing - a privilege given to subscribers that allows them to purchase single tickets before they go on-sale to the public.
Priority Renewal - a privilege given to subscribers that allows them to renew their current year's subscription before other people in the LA Opera database..
Lost Ticket Insurance - a privilege given to subscribers that replaces lost tickets for a small fee.
Free Ticket Exchanges Days - a privilege given to subscribers, before single tickets go on sale to the public, which allows them to exchange dates in their series subscription for free.
Convenient Ticket Exchange - a privilege given to subscribers that allows them to exchange dates in their series subscription for another date of the same opera, after the free ticket exchange days, for a small fee of $5.00 per ticket exchanged. (Full Series Subscribers are exempt from the fee.)
Lapsed Subscriber - a person who had a Full, Select, Mini or DYO Subscription prior to the 2009/10 season.
Non-Opera Events - Galas, Recitals, Concerts, Pre- or Post-Performance Receptions, Pre-Performance Lectures.
Single Ticket Buyer - a person who does not purchase a subscription (Full, Select, Mini, DYO) and chooses to buy tickets to operas one by one or when purchasing less then 3 operas at a time.
Contribution - a donation made to Los Angeles Opera which helps support the world-class opera that is presented and also has membership privileges.
Session Timed Out - during an online sale a predetermined amount of time is assigned in order to complete the sale. If this time expires prior to the completion of the sale, all additions or changes made to the sale will be deleted.
Shopping Cart - shows the subscription and contribution selected during the website sales process.
Check Out - accepting the items that appear in the shopping cart and moving on to the payment section of the sale.
