Planned Gifts
Supporting LA Opera through special financial strategies can result in opportunities for tax savings that may increase legacies for designated heirs or your favorite charities. These plans can include a simple bequest to LA Opera that designates a percentage of your estate, or all or part of the residue that is left over after all other bequests are made. Specific sums and other property are also welcome.
You can make a gift of a life insurance policy to LA Opera, or name LA Opera as the beneficiary of an insurance policy, your IRA, or other retirement plan. You may also consider other planned giving vehicles, such as:
- Charitable Gift Annuities ~ You can make a gift and receive guaranteed payments for life. Payments may exceed the return on low-earning securities or CDs.
- Charitable Remainder Trusts ~ A great way to make a gift, receive fixed payments and defer or eliminate gains taxes. Such trusts provide a steady cash flow and can be more beneficial than keeping an asset or selling an asset outright.
- Retained Life Estates ~ You can deed LA Opera your home or vacation house, save taxes with a current deduction and still use the property for your lifetime.
If you choose to remember LA Opera in your estate plan or other planned giving, please let us know so we may say "thank you!" and welcome you as a member or patron of LA Opera's Bella Voce Society. If you prefer, we will keep the fact of your giving intention confidential.

Rebecca and Stuart Bowne: Building the Legacy
Stuart and I have subscribed to LA Opera since 1995, and we are both very active in the Opera League, a volunteer group for LA Opera enthusiasts. While we both absolutely love opera, our experience and relationships with this particular Company have enriched our lives in ways we could not have imagined.
We travel around the world to see opera - but it is here, in our home town, that we experience the most meaningful moments and heartfelt connections.
When we first began attending, we were moved mostly by the moments happening on stage at the Dorothy Chandler. Today, our lives have become intertwined with the Company and we experience the thrill and awe of opera both on and off the stage. We have formed close bonds with other opera lovers that have immeasurably enriched our lives.
We've become involved because we can't imagine living in Los Angeles without LA Opera. This year, LA Opera celebrates 25 years of opera in Los Angeles, and we feel compelled to help continue this legacy for decades to come! We felt it important to include LA Opera in our estate plans.
We hope you will join us so that future opera lovers can enjoy the meaningful and unique experiences we have.
