Galas & Events

On Saturday, September 21, LA Opera will celebrate the premiere of its 28th season with a spectacular Opening Night Gala event, benefiting the Company’s artistic and educational programs.

The cornerstone of the evening will be the season premiere of Carmen, a fiery drama of ill-fated love and jealous vengeance. Conducted by LA Opera General Director Plácido Domingo, Carmen features a high-powered cast that includes mezzo-soprano Patricia Bardon as the sultry gypsy, tenor Brandon Jovanovich as her enthralled lover Don José, and bass-baritone Ildebrando D’Arcangelo as the swaggering bullfighter Escamillo.

The Opening Night Gala begins at 5pm with a pre-performance champagne reception, a dinner catered by Patina, and lively entertainment. Following the performance of Carmen, the party continues with an extravagant display of hors d’oeuvres, desserts, dancing and cocktails – all designed with a Spanish flare.

Individual tickets begin at $2,500 and tables of ten begin at $25,000.

Formal invitations will be mailed in July. Should you have any questions, please contact us at specialevents@laopera.com.
