David Young
|
|
David H. Young earned a B.M. in Music Education with a Performer's Certificate from the Eastman School and M.M. and D.M.A. degrees from the University of Southern California. He has studied with Oscar Zimmerman, Peter Mercurio and Dennis Trembly, and he is a former member of the Rochester Philharmonic, Dallas Symphony, and the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. In addition to his position with LA Opera he serves as principal bass of the Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra, and he plays a bass of 1704 made by Florenus Guidantus in Bologna, Italy. Also the double bass faculty member at the Colburn School of Performing Arts, he has wide experience developing concerts for children and performing chamber music with the String Family Players string quintet. Currently he concentrates upon teaching bass students and leading bass ensemble class at the Colburn School as well as playing in the opera pit. |
