Gary Woodward

Gary Woodward is no stranger to the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. He has been involved in countless performances at this theater dating back to 1974. Beginning with the William Hall Chorale, he has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Civic Light Opera, the American Ballet Theater, the Joffrey Ballet, the Bolshoi Ballet, the Kirov Ballet, the Glendale Symphony, and the Los Angeles Master Chorale. Mr. Woodward has been with the Los Angeles Opera since its very first production in 1986. Mr. Woodward's quiet passion for playing the flute is matched in equal measure by that for teaching the same. He is a member of the music faculty at the University of Southern California, Biola University, and Occidental College. He has also taught at UCSB, Pomona College, Idyllwild School of Music and the Arts, and the Aspen School. He feels privileged to have touched the lives of hundreds of young musicians, many of who now enjoy successful musical careers of their own. A native of Sacramento, Mr. Woodward holds degrees in music from USC and Chapman University. He is grateful to his parents and to his cherished teachers: Edna Comerchero, Arthur Hoberman, and Roger S. Stevens. |
