Aleksandra Kurzak Named Seattle Opera’s Artist of the Year

Congratulations to soprano Aleksandra Kurzak (currently rehearsing for her LA Opera debut as Fiordiligi in “Cosi fan tutte”), who was named Artist of the Year for her October 2010 portrayal of Lucia di Lammermoor at Seattle Opera.

LA Opera is collaborating with Classical KUSC to produce the sixth consecutive season of LA Opera on Air, a weekly broadcast series of performances recorded live at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Hosted by Duff Murphy, the series will feature all six operas from LA Opera’s 2011/12 season, including a special live broadcast of Puccini’s La Bohème on Sunday, May 20, at 2pm.

The series will be broadcast locally on Classical KUSC 91.5FM and streamed online at www.kusc.org. The broadcasts will subsequently be syndicated throughout the United States and internationally on the WFMT Radio Network.
