Development Intern
The Development Intern will contribute to the overall success of LA Opera’s summer fundraising activities, which support the productions, community events, and arts education programs that will occur during Company’s 2013/14 Season. The Development Intern’s primary project will be to assist with the completion of two report templates for the institutional giving team that will be distributed to foundation, government, and corporate funders. Additional projects to support the Development Department may require the intern to conduct donor prospect research, to assist with the individual/institutional giving campaigns (this may entail drafting letters and/or grant proposal templates, tracking pledges, or conducting mailings), and to help with various special events tasks. Some telephone usage, filing, record keeping, and database management may also be involved.
This internship is sponsored by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Los Angeles County Arts Commission. 74 undergraduate interns will participate in the program this year at 74 performing, presenting, and literary nonprofit arts organizations and municipal arts agencies throughout LA County. In addition to their full-time 10 week paid internship, interns will participate in educational events as part of the program, which is funded by the Getty Foundation. The educational events are designed to provide interns with a broader perspective of the vibrant arts and cultural landscape of the County.
