Laura Tatulescu

Soprano Laura Tatulescu will make her LA Opera debut as Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi. In 2004, she debuted as Marguerite Faust at the Romanian National Opera, and soon after was engaged as a soloist at Vienna State Opera in the roles of Gianetta L'Elisir d'Amore, Tebaldo Don Carlo, Barbarina Le Nozze di Figaro, Bastienne Basien and Bastienne, Papagena Die Zauberflöte. Just two years later, Laura debuted in the role of Susanna under the baton of Philippe Jordan, and in the upcoming season, will add the roles of Pamina, Despina Cosi fan tutte with Ricardo Muti, Adina and Nanetta Falstaff.

Born in the United States, Laura Tatulescu began her musical career as a violinist. Her calling as a singer in 1998 led her to the masters program at the National Music University in Bucharest, where she was awarded her degree in opera in 2005.

In 2008, she will join the ensemble in Munich and will make her Bavarian State Opera debut in the role of Susanna.

Other roles in Laura Tatulescu's operatic repertoire include Zerlina Don Giovanni, Ilia Idomeneo, Musetta La Boheme, and Sophie Werther. She has a broad compliment of oratorio and lieder.
