Gerald Scarfe

Gerald Scarfe's work includes the designs for Disney's animated film Hercules. Also active in the opera world, his design work has been seen in Los Angeles Opera's production of Tobias Picker's Fantastic Mr. Fox in 1998; he also designed the sets and costumes for Los Angeles Opera's original 1993 production of The Magic Flute. Mr. Scarfe is famous for his countless satiric cartoons and illustrations for publications ranging from Time, The New Yorker and Private Eye to the Sunday Times (London). Other accomplishments include designing and directing the animated sequences in the film Pink Floyd: The Wall and directing the prize-winning film Scarfe by Scarfe. In 1989, Los Angeles audiences first saw his stage work with the Los Angeles Opera debut of Orpheus in the Underworld, a production from the English National Opera.
