Eric Halfvarson

Bass Eric Halfvarson made his LA Opera debut as Capellio in I Capuleti e i Montecchi in 1999. Engagements for the 2005-06 season included La Roche in Capriccio with New York City Opera, Sparafucile in Rigoletto at the Metropolitan Opera, Prince Gremin in Eugene Onegin at Covent Garden, Osmin in Die Entführung aus dem Serail with Teatro Real in Madrid and the Grand Inquisitor in Don Carlo in Torino, Italy. Future appearances include Manon Lescaut and Tannhäuser with San Francisco Opera;  Macbeth with Dallas Opera; Don Carlo and Der fliegende Hollander at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona; La Gioconda with Teatro Real in Madrid;  Fidelio, Don Carlo and Don Giovanni at Covent Garden; and Götterdämmerung with the Vienna Staatsoper. Recent appearances took this versatile artist to Covent Garden for La Giaconda (Alvise), Rigoletto (Sparafucile) and Die Walküre (Hunding); to Barcelona for Boris Godunov (Pimen); to Finnish National Opera for Der Rosenkavalier (Baron Ochs); and to Lyric Opera of Chicago for the Ring cycle, in which he performed in Die Walküre (Hunding) and Götterdämmerung (Hagen). He also sang a concert performance of Tristan und Isolde (King Marke) at the Cincinnati May Festival and appeared in recital in New York City under the auspices of the George London Foundation.
