Beau Gibson

Tenor Beau Gibson made his LA Opera debut as the First Armed Man in 2009. He will return to the Company as Froh in Das Rheingold and, during the 2009/10 season, as Menaldo Negroni in the U.S. premiere of Die Gezeichneten.

He recently returned to Wolf Trap Opera as Brighella in Ariadne auf Naxos and Edoardo in Il Giorno di Regno, after performing Tamino in Die Zauberflote there in 2007. He also performed Remendado in a concert staging of Carmen opposite Denyce Graves with the National Symphony Orchestra. A former fellow in the Houston Grand Opera Studio, his many HGO appearances includ the Judge in Un Ballo in Maschera, First Armed Man / First Priest in Die Zauberflöte, Parpignol in La Bohème, Maintop in Billy Budd, the Captain in Simon Boccanegra, the Messenger in Aida and Pasek in The Cunning Little Vixen, in addition to covering many leading roles. He took part in the Merola Opera program with San Francisco Opera in 2006 and has performed with the San Francisco Opera Orchestra. He earned a Master's degree from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Kentucky.
