Greg Fedderly most recently returned to LA Opera as Don Basilio, the role in which he recently made his 2003 Metropolitan Opera debut, conducted by James Levine. He returned to the Met as Goro in Madama Butterfly, the four servants in Les Contes d’Hoffmann, and Valzacchi in Der Rosenkavalier, and he was recently seen internationally as Monostatos in The Magic Flute on the live HD transmissions and PBS telecast.Recent appearances include Beppe in Pagliacci with LA Opera, Don Basilio and Monostatos in Die Zauberflöte at the Met and Don Basilio with San Francisco Opera. He has also appeared at the Aldeburgh Festival, with West Deutsches Rundfunkorchester, Orquestra Sinfonica de Barcelona, Théâtre du Châtelet, Drottningholm Festival, Washington National Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Glimmerglass Opera and Seattle Opera. In 2001, he accompanied Los Angeles Opera to Finland’s Savonlinna Festival, where he performed Narraboth in Salome. His many roles with LA Opera include Bardolph in Falstaff, Goro in Madama Butterfly, Raoul de St. Brioche in The Merry Widow, Monostatos in The Magic Flute, the four servants in Les Contes d’Hoffmann and the Steersman in The Flying Dutchman. He received a Masters degree from the University of Southern California, where he was the first recipient of the Marilyn Horne Scholarship. |
