|
Baritone Daniel Armstrong is in his third year with LA Opera's Domingo-Thornton Young Artist Program. This season's appearances include Pinellino in Gianni Schicchi, the Registrar in Madama Butterfly, Morales in student performances of Carmen, the Second Priest in The Magic Flute, the Raven in The Birds and Marquis d'Obigny in La Traviata. He made his LA Opera debut in Luisa Fernanda, and returned as the Jailor in Tosca and as Schaunard in student performances of La Bohème. Originally from Houston, Mr. Armstrong was a member of the 2000 and 2002 Texas All-State Choirs before coming to Los Angeles to study at Pepperdine University, where he was featured as a soloist with the University Concert Choir and performed operatic roles including Bob in The Old Maid and the Thief, Betto in Gianni Schicchi, Guglielmo in Così fan tutte and Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro. He will return to LA Opera next season as Fiorello in Il Barbiere di Siviglia. |
