He has established himself as a leading tenor throughout the U.S. and Europe. Recent engagements include the Emperor in Die Frau Ohne Schatten with Deutsche Oper Berlin; Laca in Jenufa at the English National Opera; Boris in Katya Kabanova at the Theater an der Wien; Mephistopheles in Busoni's Doktor Faust in Seville; the world premiere of Love and Other Demons by Peter Eötvös at the Glyndebourne Festivals; Loge in Das Rheingold in Seville; Mao Tse-Tung in Nixon in China, the Witch in Hänsel und Gretel and Mime in the Ring at the Metropolitan Opera; the title role in Der König Kandaules for Vienna Volksoper; and the Captain in Wozzeck in Santa Fe.
