Mezzo-soprano Peabody Southwell makes her LA Opera debut as Inez in Dulce Rosa. Shortly after completing her Master's degree from UCLA, she made her professional debut with Long Beach Opera as the Fox in The Cunning Little Vixen in 2009. Since has since performed more than 10 roles with LBO including the title role in María de Buenos Aires, which she reprised at Chicago Opera Theatre in the spring of 2013. Recent season highlights include Anna in The Seven Deadly Sins for Central City Opera, San Francisco Symphony's multimedia Peer Gynt led by Michael Tilson Thomas and The Rape of Lucretia with James Conlon. Next season includes the title role in Agrippina for Opera Omaha, Juno in Semele for Pacific Musicworks and the world premiere of Invisible Cities for The Industry. Committed to contemporary music, she is currently creating the title role in Schindler die Trümmerfrau, a new opera by Thomas Morse and Ken Cazan, to premiere in Germany in 2016.
