Praised for his “vocal mastery and theatrical panache” (San Francisco Chronicle), Jonathan Michie joined the ensemble of Oper Leipzig in the 2012-13 season for roles that include Figaro in The Barber of Seville, Papageno in The Magic Flute, Harlekin in Ariadne auf Naxos and Schaunard in La Bohème. He also sings Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen in a premiere collaboration with the Gewandhaus Orchestra and Ballet. In 2013, he returns to Florida Grand Opera for Papageno in The Magic Flute and to Santa Fe Opera as Prince Paul in La Grande-Duchesse de Gérolstein and Baron Douphol in La Traviata. Future engagements include returns to Oper Leipzig in a number of leading roles. In 2012, he made his LA Opera debut as the Vicar in Albert Herring and returned to Florida Grand Opera for his first performances of Mercutio in Roméo et Juliette in the 2011-12 season. He also made his European debut singing Mahler's Des Knaben Wunderhorn and Chaslin's Wuthering Heights Suite with Frédéric Chaslin and the Slovenian Philharmonic and sang Orff’s Carmina Burana with the National Chorale at Avery Fisher Hall.
